Fire near Oshawa results in possible damage to police vehicles, evidence

A fire near Oshawa on Sunday evening may have destroyed police vehicles and evidence, a representative for Durham Regional Police to the Star.

The fire occurred at 19 Courtice Court in Clarington, Ont.

The building was “engulfed” in flames, according police.

Police do not believe anyone was inside the building when the fire occurred. The building houses “a number of vehicles,” but it is too soon to tell the true extent of the level of damage.

The building also houses police evidence, said the representative.

A portion of Highway 401 was briefly shut down due to the fire, images and videos of which began surfacing online at around 6:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear.
